Jeff Lambson, a former curator of contemporary art at Brigham Young University and a nationally recognized museum leader, is returning to Utah to serve as deputy director of the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University.
Lambson’s appointment comes at a time of growth for NEHMA, which recently opened the Wanlass Center for Art Education and Research. Known for organizing ambitious exhibitions and fostering cross-community dialogue, Lambson brings 25 years of experience from institutions including the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and the University of Colorado Denver, where he dramatically expanded reach and programming.
“Jeff brings together the experience, visionary thinking, passion, and kindness that I was looking for,” said Executive Director Katie Lee-Koven. “We are thrilled to welcome him and Ann to USU and the Cache Valley community.”Jeff’s wife, Ann, who has worked at the Denver Art Museum, the BYU Museum of Art, and the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, has roots in Providence, Utah. The couple has spent time in Cache Valley over the years and are excited to be a part of the community and campus as well as live in the beautiful landscape.
Lambson, who has curated work by artists such as Takashi Murakami, Jenny Holzer, and Shepard Fairey, said he’s excited to contribute to NEHMA’s growing national profile. “The draw of Logan and USU is one of those dream opportunities that do not come along very often,” he said. “I believe art is a powerful medium to make real change happen.”
