Meagan Evans Named Manager & Curator at St. George Art Museum

The St. George Art Museum has appointed Meagan Evans as its new Manager and Curator, a move the museum says marks “a bold step forward in shaping the Museum’s future through dynamic exhibitions, thoughtful scholarship, and community engagement.”

“It is a privilege to contribute to the legacy of the St. George Art Museum and to help shape its future as a vital part of this dynamic community,” Evans said. “I am committed to honoring the region’s rich artistic heritage, including the contributions of Native American artists, while positioning the Museum as a leading hub for art of the American West. My goal is to foster a space that celebrates creativity and culture, where the power of art to inspire, educate and connect is felt by local residents and visitors.”

A Utah native from Heber City, Evans holds a BA in Art History and Curatorial Studies and an MA in Comparative Studies from Brigham Young University. She is pursuing a PhD in Art of the American West from the University of Oklahoma, expected in 2026. Her career includes fellowships at the Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. In addition, Evans has contributed to exhibitions and research for the Springville Museum of Art and Brigham Young University. Her curatorial work and scholarship emphasize identity, memory and place-making in Western American and Native American art.

Evans takes over for Melissa Carter, who worked at the museum manager and curator from January 2024 until this Spring.
