Though today is Mardi Gras you’ll have to wait another week for the arts community’s Fat Tuesday party.
The Utah Arts Festival, one of our community partners, is hosting their Tardy Mardi Party next week, March 12, at the Salt Lake Hardware Building.
Their 8th annual fundraiser is an opportunity to let your hair down, don your beads, enjoy some libations, play some “games” and dance to some great tunes! (for our Catholic readers who want to complain about how this doesn’t work very well with your Lenten commitments we refer you to Aimee at the Utah Arts Festival)
The proceeds from the event will help pay for that summertime Festival that’s been going on for 34 years. Below is the information passed on by the Art Festival.
Party Pass – $50 Includes 10 points in just-for-fun casino games, food and soda, one complimentary beer or wine, automatic entry into the end of evening drawing, and a complimentary ticket to the 2011 Utah Art Festival.
Party Pass PLUS – $75 Entry to the Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament in the afternoon, admission to the Tardy Mardi Party,20 points in just-for-fun casino games, food and soda, two complimentary beers or wine, and a complimentary ticket to the 2011 Utah Art Festival. NOTE: The Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament begins at 12pm at the Salt Lake Hardware Building, with the final table at 7pm during the Tardy Mardi Party. All are welcome regardless of experience.
Delicious Food – The student chefs at the Art Institute of Salt Lake City have whipped up an amazing and unique menu just for our party. Some of the items they’ll offer include Crab Salad Croissant Bites, Buffalo-Style Chicken Meatballs, a Twice-Baked Potato bites, and more. We promise you won’t be disappointed! And you’ll definitely want to save room for dessert – Praline Brownies, Bananas Foster, and Bread Pudding Truffles. YUM!! Crowning of
Tardy Mardi Party Royalty – Our panel of judges will be looking for party guests with the most original (yet still appropriate) costumes which most closely adhere to the Mardi Gras theme. The winners will receive crowns and will also receive a VIP Festival package.
Deck of Cards Opportunity Drawing – Two round trip tickets anywhere is the U.S.A provided by Southwest Airlines. The suggested donation is $20 per opportunity. Only 52 opportunities will be available. Guilt-Free
Shopping – Several generous local organizations have donated items for our silent auction this year. The silent auction is a chance for us to raise some money, and for you to do some guilt-free shopping for a good cause.
ShutterBooth will be back this year to help you commemorate all the fun you’re having at the Tardy Mardi Party. For a donation of $5 you’ll receive a strip of four photos. All proceeds benefit Utah Arts Festival.
