WHAT: Create your own website using free WordPress software
WHERE: 7×7 Creative, 682 South 700 East (above Ward and Child: The Garden Store) in Salt Lake City.
WHEN: Saturday, June 15, noon-4 pm.
WHO: Artists of Utah, in collaboration with 7×7 Creative
HOW MUCH: $100 fee. Participants are responsible for the costs of domain name registration and webhosting services (though we’ll help with that too).
During an intense 4-hour workshop, Shawn Rossiter will provide hands-on training for building your site with WordPress, an opensource software that is a powerful tool, with plenty of designers developing for it, yet also very easy to use.
Bring your laptop, your images and your text and Rossiter will take you through the process of building your site step-by-step. When you leave you’ll have a functioning website online ready for the world to visit. And you’ll know how to use it.
To facilitate the learning-process, the size of the workshop will be very limited. We have 6 spots available. The workshop runs from 12-4 pm on Saturday, June 15th (take advantage of our opportunity to have your artwork shot at 7×7 Creative earlier that morning and you’ll have images ready to put on your site).
Pre-registration is required. The workshop costs $100, though participants will also be responsible for any domain registration or web hosting costs (already confused? we’ll walk you through this as well).
Before the workshop we will install WordPress on your webhosting provider, and send you a username and password. Then you’ll just need to bring your wifi capable laptop, loaded up with images (both artwork and a logo are suggested) and text you want on your site.
If you do not currently have a webhosting provider, we can temporarily host your site on our artistsofutah.org server, but you will need to make arrangements to provide your own webhosting and we will help you transfer the site.
